Week 10: Chase Young, New Orleans Saints
/New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Chase Young, who starred at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, has been named the DC Touchdown Club Pro Football Player of the Week after his crucial play in the final minute helped the Saints escape with a 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons to break a seven-game losing streak.
With the Saints clinging to a three-point lead, Atlanta got the ball back late in regular and advanced to the New Orleans 49-yard line. But on first-and-10, Young broke through the line, sacked quarterback Kirk Cousins and caused a fumble, resulting in a 19-yard loss.
It was Young’s third sack and first forced fumble this season. The Falcons never recovered, running the game’s final play on fourth-and-4 from the Saints 43-yard line as time expired.
Young, who was selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by Washington, is in his first season with New Orleans after singing a one-year, $13 million contract last spring. He was the DC Touchdown Club College Player of the Year in 2020 coming out of Ohio State.
