DC TOUCHDOWN CLUB GOLF OUTING ONCE AGAIN BRINGS TOGETHER
A CAPACITY CROWD TO SUPPORT PATRIOT POINT
As the sun splashed through the clouds, the Star Spangled Banner played and a capacity crowd waited for final instructions before taking the course at Whiskey Creek Golf Club. The weather was perfect and the golf was terrific as the annual DC Touchdown Club Golf Outing raised money for Patriot Point, the Military Bowl Foundation’s 294-acre retreat for recovering service members, their families and caregivers.
“To be joined by so many people who share the commitment to honoring and supporting those who serve our nation is just incredible,” Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “It was just amazing. We are appreciative of everyone who participated in the event as well as those who sponsored it and continue to support our mission of doing all we can for the men and women in uniform.”
The field included members of the Military Bowl Foundation Board of Directors and the DC Touchdown Club Executive Committee, as well as former Washington Redskins players Raleigh McKenzie and Ravin Caldwell. Former Redskins Doc Walker (who is also a member of the Touchdown Club Executive Committee) and Brian Carpenter helped greet the players. Several military veterans also were among the participants.
All of the proceeds from the event benefit Patriot Point, which hosts hundreds of guests annually, at no cost to them. Patriot Point guests attend events including unit reunions, therapeutic retreats, hunting and fishing trips and more, where they enjoy activities such as kayaking, fishing, crabbing and paddle boarding to try to relax and continue their healing.
DC Touchdown Club Golf Outing sponsors included Gold Sponsor Cypress Real Estate Company; Silver Sponsors Legal Innovators and Nardi Construction; Lunch Sponsor Cornerstone Government Affairs; Post-Play Meal Sponsor Mission BBQ; Golf Ball Sponsor Dream Finder Homes; Contest Sponsor American Airlines; and Hole Sponsors American Athletic Conference, Byron Marchant/BFM Seaward LLC, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Constellation Brands, Curtis Family Foundation, Defiant Whisky, Events DC, FCN Technology Solutions, Insperity, Old Virginia Tobacco Company, Radice Enterprises, Raven Services, Snapple and State & Liberty.
The foursome of Josh Smith, Jim Sullivan, Garrett Harding and Frank Anastasi captured first place in the tournament with a score of 55!
