University of Delaware wide receiver Kyre Duplessis, who played at Woodbridge High, has been named the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week after leading the Blue Hens to a historic victory.

Duplessis, a graduate student who transferred from Coastal Carolina, set career highs with nine catches for 161 yards and one touchdown as Delaware beat U-Conn, 44-41 in overtime for its first win over a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent as an FBS member. The Blue Hens, a perennial contender in the Football Championship Subdivision, moved up to FBS this season, joining Conference USA.

Duplessis has played a significant role in Delaware’s offensive success this season. He should soon pass those numbers in just one season at Delaware, leading the team with 17 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns in three games.

On Saturday, his career-long 68-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter put the Blue Hens ahead, 28-24.

“We prepared hard and showed we can play at this level,” Duplessis said.
